PETIT PITON BLOG - LET'S DO THIS

Why? Because it’s there.

A visit to Soufriere, St. Lucia would be immensely incomplete without a hike up one of the wondrous Pitons. On my trip, I opted to tackle Petit Piton for a bit of a challenge.  Janus and his team made what would’ve probably been a daunting experience for a novice hiker, one which I’ll never forget.

The day begun with an early morning pickup from Sapphire Apartments where I was staying. Upon arrival at the base of the mountain, I was provided with a liter bottle of water for the climb, and freshly cut fruits. By the end of the tour, I felt like a world class hiking pro all thanks to my amazing and extremely diligent tour guide Ashley.

The “walking tree” as I learned to be his nickname, must’ve had a copy of the trail implanted in his brain; because it was as if he was an extension of the mountain itself. Ashley was able to guide me up and down the mountain giving the most precise instructions on where to step, which branches and ropes to use to propel myself along the trail, and even held my hand for guidance where necessary...all while attentively assisting the other members on our tour. I highly recommend this tour...be sure to request the Walking Tree as your guide, you won’t regret it!!
